Timing.

Timing is everything, so they say.

A stitch in time saves nine.
The early bird gets the worm.
He who hesitates is lost.
Just give it time.

We use these sayings all of the time. Timing is an important thing in our culture.

There are all kinds of timetables that we are supposed to be on. Expectations, if you will. But sometimes, there are people who are exceptions to timetables.

Brooklyn appears to be an exception. She needed to grow for 40 weeks in the womb? 34 was sufficient for her. The doctors thought she needed to be in the NICU for 6 weeks? How about 1? She should weigh 4.5 pounds at birth? Lets go with 5 pounds, 9 ounces. Lately, the exceptions to the timetable haven't pleased the professionals. Head lag at 6 months of age indicating low muscle tone... not meeting appropriate developmental milestones... etc.

It can be frustrating when you have a child that is labeled abnormal because she isn't on the same timetable as everyone else's child. But you know what I realized today? My sweet Brooklyn has never been on our timetable. Arriving in her own time, and confusing doctors thereafter, she has always had her own rhythm. But you know what is really cool about that? Even though I never know what she is going to do... surge ahead, or as of late, lag behind... there is someone who does.

My Momma's heart is comforted to reflect on Psalm 139:16, "Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

Brooklyn might not be on my timetable, or the medical professionals' timetables, but God knows what timetable she's on, and He has a plan for her.

Amen! My girls have never followed the doctors charts for growth, and it was really frustrating and scary at first, but I know they are just perfect the way God created them! Your Brooklyn is absolutely precious and if she grows a little slower, you can just enjoy the extra time for snuggles :) Thanks for the good reminder that God's timetable is perfect, even more so than the medical field!

praying for her. Thanks for the encouraging words. It's nice knowing God knows and cares more about us than anyone else ever could!
