Through Savannah's year serving as Wee Baby Miss Virginia 2008, we got to spend some time with Tara Wheeler, Miss Virginia 2008. You might remember the day they met.
Tara is such a genuine girl with a huge heart... and is definitely not your typical beauty queen. She served our country in the air force and also was a goalie for a women's hockey team before entering the Miss Virginia pageant system after someone challenged her that she probably couldn't walk in a dress and heels!
Anyway, yesterday Tara shaved her head bald to mark the end of her fundraising campaign for pediatric cancer. Savannah helped her raise some of the funds, so this was very special to us. Tara raised over $50,000 and is now a bald beauty queen because she wanted to be able to show children that have cancer and are forced to lose their hair that you can still be beautiful. We are so proud of Tara and so glad we got to know her!

Way to go, Tara!
