Savannah is six months old today!
Isn't that hard to believe?! At times I think it has simply flown by, but then at other times, like 3 am in particular, I think she's been around longer than six months! :) We cannot imagine our lives without her!
This month she really started sitting up. She loves to try to sit up anytime that you try to make her lay down. It won't be long before she masters it. She can sit pretty well on the floor, as long as you are nearby to catch her before she gets tired and topples over.
She is also eating baby food really well now. Some of my friends have inspired me to make my own baby food, so yesterday I set out on a mission in our kitchen with various fruits, veggies, and a food processor. An hour later, I had enough purees in our freezer to feed an army of babies. :) I thought it would hard and time consuming to make, but it was actually quick and easy, and very cheap! The financial aspect of it was definitely the motivating factor, but from what I hear it is also a lot healthier for babies as well!
This month she starting sitting in a highchair at restaurants for the first time. She likes it because she can be nosey and observe all the action from her own little perch. The only thing we have to do is keep everything on the table, especially silverware and cups, out of her reach!
She learned how to do two things with her mouth this month...squeal and spit! When she wants someone's attention, she makes a high pitched squealing noise until they look at her. I'm sure that'll get old fast, but its still pretty cute right now. :) She's also learned that if she sticks her tongue out and makes a "pffft" sound, spit goes everywhere. She finds this very entertaining and will do it for about 20 minutes straight, showering anything and everything in sight. I hope people that sit at tables after us use Lysol! ;)
She also found her feet this month, and they are her favorite thing to hold or put in her mouth. She grabs them as soon as she wakes up!
We are still waiting on that first tooth to emerge, but I'm pretty confident it will come this month. :)
It has been a wonderful six months with our little blessing, and we're loving every minute of it! :)
We are just a small southern family on a crazy journey. Momma, the author, created this blog so that we can share the joy, frustration, and happy chaos that we experience through our marriage and with our beautiful little girls. We hope you enjoy reading about our everyday adventures...but don't hold them against us...

I Can Only Imagine...
Today was a hard day for our family. We attended the funeral of a family friend who passed from this earth much before what we would consider to be his time. He died of a heart attack at the age of 47. However, his time was not determined by us, but by our Father, who has a much bigger plan than we can see.
Rusty Snyder was a wonderful man who poured his life into RVCS and into the AWANA club at Shenandoah Baptist Church. He was a great example to all of us of what a Christlike life looks like.
I am quite confident that God called him home and said to him, "Your work on earth was finished. Well done, my good and faithful servant." I hope I'm half the Christian that Rusty Snyder was.
Please pray for his wife, Sherri, and his daughters, Jessica, Ashley, and Beth, as they cope with the loss of their husband and father.
"I can only imagine when all I can do is forever worship you...
I can only imagine when all I can see if your face before me.
Surrounded by your glory, what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus? Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Hallelujah? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine..."

Baby Queen, Miss Valley View Mall!
So, I think Savannah is just beautiful, so when a beautiful baby pageant came to our local mall, I signed her up! :) We got a poofy dress and went to the pageant today. Right before time for her to go on stage, she got really fussy and I thought oh, great, here goes nothing! But, we went out there, stood in front of the judges, and she tipped her head to the side and flashed them both dimples!
When we were called back to the stage for the awards, they kept announcing the runner ups...and she wasn't called and I thought oh goodness, she didn't place...and then they said...and then the winner is...Savannah Beckner! She won first place! She was crowned Baby Queen, Miss Valley View Mall! :) She also was awarded Best Personality! But the funniest part of all is that she fell asleep as they were crowning her! ;) Here are some pictures...
Happy Valentines Day!

Uh-oh!
Savannah has officially said her first word.
Yes, I was shocked too!
She was at Mimi's house, and Mimi said "uh-oh" and Savannah looked right at her and said "uh-oh!" Since I didn't witness this episode, I kind of doubted it at first (grandparents always think their grandchild is brillant, you know) and I tried in vain to get her to say it for me. For 24 hours I looked at her and said "uh-oh" numerous times with no response. Then, the next time we saw Mimi, she was playing with Savannah and said "uh-oh!" and I kid you not, Savannah looked right at Mimi and said "uh-oh!" It was clear as could be.
Harvard, here we come?! Hehe. :)

Pure Sweetness!
Mimi decided that Savannah needed her first taste of chocolate in order to fully appreciate the Valentine's Day season! At first she gave us a look like... "what was that?!" and by the time she swallowed, she had started her usual eating sound of "Mmmmm!" I think what she meant was, "Thank you, Mimi!" :)
