The Crisis in Cuba

Usually when people hear about Cuba and a crisis, the word missile is involved in there somewhere. But this week, its all about the Cuban Toilet Paper Crisis.

Obviously, due to the nature of the situation, Cuba has become the butt of jokes, and has taken a lot of crap over this. Haha. I crack myself up.

But seriously, Cuba is actually running out of toilet paper, and isn't projected to get any more until December. Don't believe me? Check it out. And if you're looking for a way to make extra Christmas cash... there is about to be a black market for TP. :)

Did you hear?

Did you listen to Savannah's announcement? Maybe you did, and you just don't speak toddler. Well, she is going to be a big sister! She clearly has no concept of what that means, but she likes to tell people anyway. :)

I tried to scan the ultrasound picture and it didn't really turn out. But don't worry, at six weeks, you aren't missing much. Baby Beckner just looks like a tiny dot. But trust me, it feels like way more than that. And it is a healthy tiny dot so far with a strong heartrate of 123 beats/min.

Anyway, our new addition will make its appearance sometime next spring, with a due date of April 8th. However, if you remember, Savannah was 15 days early and I'm not a huge fan of being pregnant (but i LOVE being a mom...), so we're hoping for the middle of March. :) I was delighted to find out that I would be huge during the coldest part of the year this time. Darren was too, considering that when I was huge in the summer last time, I required the AC to be set on 62 during the day and 58 at night. Ahem.

So, please keep us in your prayers! Pray for a healthy pregnancy and sickness to subside (ugh. I've already lost four pounds and was slightly dehydrated yesterday. but this too shall pass!) and praise God with us for this new blessing. After all...

She Has Something To Say.

Allergies Update

Savannah did great at testing today. They stuck her ten times to test for different things, and she never even flinched! :) They made some adjustments to her medications and her testing turned out well. Her daddy was slightly disappointed that she was not allergic to Sasha, though.

She does have severe allergic reactions to insect bites, but they appear to be localized, so that is a good thing! They gave us a medicine to give her and a prescription cream to put on her if she gets bit again soon. And every time she goes outside, she has to wear bug spray! I guess she is just too sweet. :)

We opted not to test for an allergic reaction to a bee sting today because the testing would involve 21 needles. We thought we would take our chances with the bee one day instead. But other than that, she seems to be juuuust fine. In fact, the doctor said out of all of the children she has tested, that was the best almost two-year-old ever.

Hmm, I'm not sure about all of that, but we'll take it!

And, by the way, she weighed a whopping 26.3 pounds, and was 34.5 inches tall. She also informed the doctor that she was (almost) two and that she had a book about Abby Cadabby, and when asked about her colors, they were all pink, of course. Thanks for that info, chatterbox.

Allergies.

Tomorrow morning at 9:30, Savannah has an appointment with the pediatric allergist at the childrens hospital. She will most likely undergo some skin testing, and it could take a few hours.

Her pediatrician is concerned because she keeps getting what look like simple mosquito bites, but then they swell up severely. Its happened a few times on her legs, but then it happened to her eye last month, and two weeks ago, it happened to her hand. When it happened to her hand, it swelled so big that she couldnt bend her fingers. Anyway, they want to test her for a few things and make sure that we don't need to be carrying an EpiPen.

So, if you could say a prayer for Savannah tomorrow, we would sure appreciate it!

Pancakes.

Momma: Savannah, you have to hold my hand in the parking lot. If you run behind those cars, they won't see you and they'll squish you like a pancake. You don't want to be a pancake, do you?
