22 Months Old

Wow. We are frighteningly close to two years old. Did my baby become a little kid overnight? She can't really be 22 months old now. This. is. scary.

In fact, two years ago this month, I looked like this.

And I forgot how frighteningly huge that was. Yikes. And you people wonder why I don't want to pregnant again ever. Ahem.

Savannah is a delight to my heart. As tired as I am, and as much as I threaten to adopt her out, I wouldn't trade being her mom for anything.

She is joyful. She wakes up with a smile every day. She gets extremely excited over everything... small things, big things... friends or strangers. She really loves everything and everyone.

She is learning. Savannah is talking nonstop. I can understand most of what she says, but I know the average person can't yet. Her words are slowly getting clearer though. She chatters and sings constantly. Her favorite phrases and words are "mine", "Sasha sit", "no way", "oh yeah", "i love you", "go potty", "oh no!", "happy day", "mimi house", "more, please", "outside", "better", etc. She says so much now that I can't keep up with it. She is starting to put phrases together, and thats fun to hear. And it made me smile yesterday when I told her to put away her pajamas and she picked them up and put them in the drawer and said "okay, mom. better?" :) And believe me, if she says something, you must acknowledge it. Or she will repeat it. 23095340958 times.

She has also learned a few more motor skills. She can jump and hop. She can climb onto all of the furniture. She can go up and down the stairs. And she can kick a ball. I'll be working on the computer and she will come running in with a ball and set it at my feet and say "kick it, mom!" Maybe she'll be a soccer player.

Savannah loves to play outside. She can dig in the dirt for hours. She also loves water. And swinging. And just running around in general. Another thing she likes to do is "help." She claims that she is a "helper" and loves to go with me around the house as long as I give her a task of her own. She likes to pick out the dryer sheets and while I'm folding laundry and throw them away. She likes to put away her socks while I put away the rest of her folded clothes. She likes to have her own dust rag while I'm dusting. She "helps" push the vacuum. She loves to help (even when it takes five times as long to complete a task).

Savannah has a sweet, tender heart. She is affectionate and loves to be praised. When corrected, it usually hurts her feelings, but as a result, she responds quickly and is remorseful. She loves others and genuninely wants them to be happy. She gets upset when other babies cry in nursery at church and tries to comfort them. The area that she really struggles with right now is expressing her feelings appropriately. She has a massive stubborn streak (I think she got a dose from each of her parents. I've met my match with this kid.) We are learning that it is NOT okay to sit on the floor in Target and cry when we can't buy the pink sparkly shoes. Or to throw something when you don't get your way. We had to start a "time-out chair" this month while we learn to keep our emotions in check. Savannah seems to be learning that if she can't behave, she has to sit in time out, and that is NOT fun. However, sometimes it takes her a few minutes to come around and pull herself together. She can last for quite a while when she is determined. You can be praying for us as we continue to instruct her in godliness. We are so thankful for her sweet heart and pray that she continues to grow into a beautiful little girl - from the inside out.

Sheesh! I can't believe she is 22 months old. It seems like just yesterday she looked like this...

And now she looks like this!

Almost. two. years. old.

Because it makes me happy.

Katie is probably my oldest friend. And she has a cute baby. Who looks cute in my baby's clothes that she grew out of. Just like Katie and I used to look cute in each others' clothes. See? Go look. Because it makes me happy.

Chitter-Chatter

Savannah: "Hiiii Momma!!!!"
Momma: "Hi! Did you miss me?"
Savannah: "Ohhhh yeah!"

Momma: "Savannah, did you go pee-pee in the potty?"
Savannah: "No way. I toot."

Momma: "Savannah, if you want to get up out of time out, you have to say you're sorry for coloring on the couch."
Savannah: "Please. Thank you. Sorry. I love you. Bye!"

Momma: "You are my favorite."
Savannah: "Yes. Momma's helper."
Momma: "That is right. You are my helper. And is Momma your favorite?"
Savannah: "No."
Momma: "No? Who is your favorite?"
Savannah: "Mimi."

Momma: "We can't leave for Mimi's house until I find my phone, so wait by the door for just a minute while I look for it."
Savannah: "Phone! Where are you?!"

Daddy: "Savannah! Where is my walkie-talkie?"
Savannah: "Where?"
Daddy: "Did you throw it out the window?!"
Savannah: "No way! Here."

Daddy (emerging from the bathroom): "Hi."
Savannah: "Go potty?"
Daddy: "Yes, I went potty."
Savannah: "Where is cookie?"

Oh my. Everyday conversations with a toddler sure are entertaining.

Story Time

Ready for story time? Well, my story is not quite as good as Katie's story, but I will try to entertain you.

Once upon a time, two girls went to a Sugarland concert. The night started out interestingly when girls were pulling into a parking space and random car of other girls started yelling that it was their space. Weird since there was another empty space right there. Still not sure what sparked all of that drama. But whatever. Girls were nice to other girls and moved on.

They settled happily into their seats and were enjoying their Friday night. If they look shiny in this picture [and they do] its because it was approximately 5,000 degrees in the civic center. Jennifer Nettles said so.

Then, apparently the man behind those girls decided he was competing for the title of grumpiest man alive. You should vote for him. He would win it. He thinks that nobody should stand up at a concert. And he wanted to stay seated. He also wanted girls in front of him to stay seated at all times. He very rudely told them to sit down. Security got involved. It was not pretty.

But it was okay. Girls went back to enjoying the concert after nice older lady in front of girls told mr. grumpy guy to leave girls alone. Sugarland was quite entertaining and very talented. Fun!

Girls then were reallllly tired and needed coffee. No coffee places were open. But Sheetz is always open. Who knew they had so many coffee choices and options? Who knew while you were considering the options the screen would time out and cancel your order?!

Who knew that could be SUCH an unflattering picture? Ahem... back to the story. Girls got coffee and enjoyed it. Thank you, Sheetz, for almost making up for mr. grumpy man.

Girls were much happier.

Even when mr. nice policeman at Sheetz asked girls to move out of five minute parking because it was ghetto cruise night. Who knew?! But girl #1 had a theory that mr. nice young policeman just wanted to talk to girl #2 because he heard her say "i like policemen with tattoos" when walking out of Sheetz. Ha.

Ohh my. You should go out with us sometime. You just never know what'll happen.

But good memories and lots of love are guaranteed. :)

Love and Such Things

We've been learning a lot about love lately. Every day at some point we go through a list of who loves Savannah (if you didn't make it this time, don't worry, I'm sure you're in there at least once per day because everybody... even the birds outside... make it onto the list. Just sayin.)

We also have a list of people we love. Today it was little friends...and their names are all repeated approximately 5 times. Jacob, Hannah, Sammy, Sydney, Audrey, Emma... the list could go on and on.

Bottom line: Savannah has a lot of love. Hope your weekend is fabulous!

Pool Party

Last night, the Dickinsons came to visit! The girls tested out the pool water, but it was a little chilly for their liking.

Emma decided it was worth the risk of hypothermia.

Not sure what was happening here...

Oh wait. Yes I am. Darren obviously needed a shower.

Emma and Savannah are BFFs.

We sure do love us some Dickinsons! :)
