Sun Burned Tanned Toes Ticklin' the Sand...

Today we had beautiful weather. Savannah got tired of standing in the ocean and decided to just lay on her belly. Standing is overrated.

This afternoon, we headed to the pool. Savannah swam with Auntie Em...
And demonstrated that she retained knowledge from swimming lessons (check out how she lowered herself into the pool backwards!)
And then she jumped in the pool to Momma... times 25...
Later Ben and Emily got brave and decided to body surf in the ocean. More power to them!
And then tonight "the kids" went into town for a bit. We tried to get a shot of the five of us. Sorry, Ben and Darren. We did get the most important faces in there...
Ben rocked out some Coach sunglasses. Stylin'!
And Emily is just high on sun. Trust me, if that were possible...

I don't know about these three.

And how is it that I'm already burned and my child is more tan than I am after wearing SPF 50?! That Beckner skin...

Wanna see how beautiful Topsail is?

Stay tuned for more! And tomorrow... I will tell you my secret. :)

I Could Use a Little Bit of Sun on My Skin...

We're at the beach! Hooray!

We couldn't wait to sink our toes into the sand.

Or the ocean for that matter.

See this wagon? It was Daddy's when he was little. He rebuilt it for Savannah.

And this is what it should be used for.

Not this.

Ahem. Anyway, we also found some shells, or "rocks."

They were so stinkin' exciting!

The beach is a wonderful place, don't you think?

Especially when you have a beast like this to haul heavy objects up the stairs.

Stay tuned for 213095743 pictures this week. Really.
Also, you're gonna wanna stay tuned for something else. I can't tell you what it is yet. That would kinda ruin the point of you staying tuned. But I will give you a hint.

Okay, thats all you get for now. Don't even try to talk me into telling you more yet. Because I'm already bad at keeping secrets. And besides, I hear the hot tub and Nicholas Sparks calling me so I must be off... this week is gonna be rough.
And I just re-read that last sentence. Obviously, I'm not getting in the hot tub with Nicholas Sparks. Just his latest book. In case you had any doubts. Ahem.

Sweet Thing

Last night, Emily and I got to go see Dierks Bentley and Keith Urban in concert. We had a blast!

I've decided I'm an even bigger fan of both of those boys now. Yay!

Mine

Savannah: (while being dressed by me) "Clothes, mine?"

Momma: "Yes, those are your clothes."

Savannah: (points to my shirt) "Clothes, mine?"

Momma: "No, these are my clothes."

Savannah: (pointing to her hair) "Hair, mine?"

Momma: "Yes, that is your hair."

Savannah: (pointing to my hair) "Hair, mine?"

Momma: "No, that is my hair."

Savannah: (clearly pondering the concept... spreads her arms wide...) "Momma, mine?"

Momma: "Yes, sweetie. Momma is yours. Absolutely."

(Why else would I clean up the poop you smeared all over your room when you took your diaper off yet again this morning?!)

How Does Your Garden Grow?

I might have planted a few freakishly large amount of vegetables in our small garden. They might all be growing pretty well. We might have some massive amounts of tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, peppers, corn, squash, cucumbers, and sunflowers before we know it. Its a good thing we like to share!

Cake Class, Week Four

And we've officially graduated from Level One!

Happy Memorial Day!

We are so thankful for all of the men and women that have served our country so that we could be free! Free to... sleep in, relax, and have Memorial Day cookouts... amid other things, of course!

This year we went over to Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house, and ate until our bellies were full. See?

Do you like our nicely coordinated red, white, and blue?
Then after dinner Savannah decided to do her new routine... the many faces of Savannah. I got some good shots of it, but its waaaay funnier in person.
Happy face...

"The Look"

"Pretty face" (pointing to her dimples)

Excited face!

"Ewwww... gross face"

"Mad face"

Sad face.

"Hahaha... you're so funny face"

I don't know where the child gets her expressions. She has such a monotone, expressionless, not exciteable mother.
I also don't know where she gets the fierce determination and independence to attempt deck stairs by herself when nobody appears to be watching.
Or her love for flowers, for that matter.

I hope your Memorial Day was happy too!

Isn't it great to be free?!

Happy Birthday, Angie!

Today we celebrated Angie's birthday. Happy Birthday, Angie!

They got Savannah a little pool. I know she will enjoy it this summer. But I'm also sure we need some swim diapers.

Savannah got to entertain my cousins, Madison and Brooke.

And then we had cake, of course!

And presents. :)

Happy Birthday, Angie! Thanks for letting us share your day!
