Tricks Are For Kids

Here are Savannah's newest tricks... she is such a ham! :)

She can point...

And blow kisses!

She is so much fun! :)

PS- Check out her first bling! :) Gram-B gave us matching bangle bracelets when I was still pregnant! We've been waiting a very long time for Savannah's little wrist to grow big enough to support her bling bling! :) Its finally big enough! :)

My First Pigtails!

Well, I decided to try and put Savannah's hair in pigtails now that it has gotten longer...but it didn't quite work out like I wanted. She ended up looking a bit like an alien with antennas. Haha. We'll try it again when her hair gets longer. :)

Ghetto Playpen

We been doing some spring/summer cleaning over the past month, and we've cleared out some boxes full of stuff (preparing to move this winter, hopefully)! Savannah found one particular larger box very amusing! :)

Darren calls it the "ghetto playpen." :)

I never knew a baby could make cleaning out the attic so much fun!!!

Giving Moochies

Savannah has suddenly decided that she wants to return the moochies she gets, and she wants to return them right on the lips, with her mouth wide open. Haha. And shes quite persistent... if you turn away, she just goes for your chin instead (see the last picture). I just think its hilarious and I crack up every time, and she always looks at me like, "Momma, I just kissed you. What are you laughing at?!" But if you saw that tiny little mouth, wide open, coming straight for you with drool dripping off, you'd laugh too. :)

Thats What I'm Doing These Days...

Sorry for pictureless post, I needed to update this, but I had no new pictures so I kept putting it off...but then I felt like I was getting pretty delinquent. So here is the pictureless update. :)

Last week, Savannah's two top teeth popped through...one at the beginning of the week, and one at the end. Needless to say, we experienced a few sleepless nights, a lot of fussiness, and went through quite a few doses of tylenol and motrin. She wasn't fussy at all with the first two teeth on the bottom, so this fussiness really threw me for a loop! I'm very happy and relieved to have my sweet, happy baby back this week. :) I think I'm not a fan of teething.

Savannah is still cruising around the table and yesterday she started trying to stand up by herself. She hasn't yet been successful, but it almost seems like the more she falls, the more determined she gets. She is so stubborn and determined that I think she'll be on her own with walking and standing in no time at all.

Savannah is sleeping very successfully now. She has slept 11 hours the past two nights and its been wonderful!!! Shes sleeping about 9pm-8am and I don't hear a peep out of her. I get a lot of work done in the early morning hours so that I can play with my sweet girl when she wakes up. :) She has also weaned herself down to one big nap a day in the afternoon. I wasn't really thrilled with this, but a long nap is nice and she's not fussy during the day, so I can't really complain. She sleeps about 2-3 hours during the nap, so thats good. It enables me to either get things done or take a nap too (I wish the second option happened more than the first one)! :)

One more update, not directly related to Savannah. On Friday, Darren's grandmother had a heart attack and very high blood pressure, and she is in the hospital. She is stable and actually handled the whole experience very well. We'd appreciate your prayers for her as her doctors and her daughters work together to try to figure out the best course of action to take now (meds v. surgery).

Well, I better run and get to work... I just wanted to post an update on our precious girl and what has been going on around here lately! Have a great start to your week!

"Cruisin"

Savannah has decided that pulling up on tables is not enough... she is now "cruising!" Now, as you can imagine, this new skill has resulted in various bumps and scrapes, but she is quickly learning to get back up and keep going in spite of Momma jumping and gasping at each tumble. This little girl is so confident in her newfound toddling skills around the tables. :) I think she'll be walking within the next month!

Cousins

My cousin's kids came to visit (my second cousins...anyone know how that makes them related to Savannah?) and they loved playing with Savannah!
Will is 7 and Brad is 4, and they just thought Savannah was so entertaining! She felt the same way about them!
She really enjoyed watching them play and they were good sports about her crawling and drooling all over them.

Savannah had fun with her cousins!!!

Happy Fathers Day!

Savannah is so blessed to have a wonderful Daddy who loves spending time with her! We enjoyed celebrating his first Father's Day today!

After church, we went to Grampster and Gram-B's house for lunch. Darren's Grandad and Granny (Savannah's Great Grandad and Great Granny) came over too. They hadn't seen Savannah since Christmas, so they were surprised at how much she'd grown! She thoroughly checked Grandad out...

Then she warmed up to him!

They were good buddies before long.

There were three generations of Beckner boy look-a-likes, each one a little taller than the previous generation. :)

And four generations if you count our Beckner girl!

Savannah enjoyed playing with her Daddy, and playing always includes some kind of trick to make Savannah laugh. Today, Daddy discovered that if he rubbed Savannah's bare belly against his buzzed hair, it tickled like crazy! Enjoy her contagious laughter!

After we got home, Momma ended the day well by making a chocolate cake, and Savannah helped her clean the beaters by licking the icing off. It was quite the messy endeavor.

She totally approved of the yummy chocolate icing and thought it was a great way to end Father's Day (promptly followed by a BATH!)

We hope your Father's Day was as wonderful as ours was!!! :)

Swinging Away

Mimi and Grandad have a swing for Savannah and she LOVES it. The pictures are kind of blurry, but you can definitely see the big smile. :)

Cute As Can Be

Savannah is in a super fun stage now where she does something just adorable and new every day. Today held lots of cute stories that I wanna share with you. :)

This morning, Savannah was sitting in her highchair when she decided to "take a dump." We've been staying at Mimi and Grandad's this week since our kitchen is under construction, and Grandad is nice enough to take charge of the poopy diapers. Usually, when she goes, Mimi says "Grandad! Savannah made you a present!" Well, today, Savannah pooped and then promply hollered "GRANDAD!!!" Haha. :)

When I pick Savannah up, a lot of times I comfort her by lovingly patting her on the back. Well, today she decided to start comforting me as well, and when I pat her on the back, she pats me on the back at the same time. :)

Later this afternoon, Savannah crawled across the floor and started to pull the cords out of the back of the computer. I put on a stern face, pointed at her, and said "NO MAAM!" She turned around, looked at me, scrunched down her eyebrows, and pointed right back. I definitely couldn't keep a straight face after that one. :)

She also discovered that her tongue is quite effective in fetching any stray food particles from off of her face, which is quite entertaining.

It is so much fun being her Momma!

We also let her have her first taste of watermelon today. Enjoy these pics! :)

Long and Lean

Well, today Savannah went for her 9 month check up and the verdict is... she's long and lean!

She dropped back down into the 40 percentile for her weight (19 pounds, 6 ounces), so they have switched her to a higher protein formula to try to beef her up a little bit. :) She is in the 65 percentile for her height though (28 inches) and her head circumference looked good as well (18 inches).

Hopefully this new formula will help our little one gain the weight she needs!!! :) They said it was probably because she is so active that she burns off all those calories... and then she's so curious about everyone else at mealtimes that she doesn't focus on her own food! :) I'm not surprised... :)

But the good news is the new formula is CHEAPER and is supposed to stay in her tummy longer... so hopefully that means longer naps and smaller grocery bills. :) Whoohoo!

The End of the Beach Pictures

So, sadly enough, here are the end of the beach pictures. We wanna go back to being beach bums!!!!

Uncle Ben fishing...

Alex, Emily, Lauren, and Darren

Momma and Lauren...

Grandad and Savannah...

Okay... vacation was not all blissful. Let these next pictures thoroughly freak you out so that you never have to go through this. Apparently, I was under the false impression that an umbrella shades UV light from skin... so after I felt like I was getting toasty, I snuck under the umbrella for the rest of the day. After coming in, my legs were intensely burning, I started to throw up and run a fever, and broke out in blisters. The doctor on the island informed me that an umbrella is only equal to 15 spf, and put me on steroid antibiotics for bad sunpoisoning. I'm now praying I don't get melanoma and I'm always going to wear sunscreen for the rest of my life.

Okay, enough of the grossness. Always wear sunscreen.

Anyways, Savannah makes the beach a LOT of fun. :) She was thoroughly entertaining.

I know I'm biased, but isn't she cute?!

She loved it when her Daddy would take her down to the ocean...

And apparently she also liked the taste of saltwater (check out the tongue there!)
PS- Would you believe there are dumb enough people in the world that her 3-inch deep pool clearly said "WARNING- NO DIVING" on the side of it?!

Here is our whole family at our huge round table...

Lauren and Emily...

Lauren and Lizzy...

Savannah in her jumparoo....

And of course, napping with Daddy on the beach...

Hope you enjoyed the snapshots of our week!!! Now, unfortunately, we have to return to work and all of that... which this week means we are remodeling our kitchen! Haha. Pray for sanity and no pitfalls along the way, and I will keep you posted on our progress!!!
